As part of my completion for my Lethbridge College program I needed to complete a 120 hour managed internship. I got a position at the Horizon School Division #67 in Taber AB.
The video project was part of a project to produce a nomination video for the Edwin Parr nominee for the division.
To begin I took their current logo and edited vectored it within Adobe Illustrator to make a saleable graphic. That allowed me to make their initially small graphic work for an HD movie. I also added the background shape for text to be shown overtop so there is no worry about legibility issues.
Once in After Effects it was a matter of adding some basic animation in the form of a fade in/out. I then found an effect called CC Light Sweep which once you adjust the intensities for the edge glow, gives a nice moving glare effect. I also used CC RepeTile which doesn’t do too much but does create a nice offset which puts a small portion of the graphic across the top right of the screen.
